Private by design · Windows desktop app
Your bots. Your keys. Your PC.
BotForge runs AI bots on your own Windows PC. Bring your own API keys, or use local AI models through Ollama or LM Studio. No big-tech account required, no telemetry, and anything risky waits for your OK.
- Runs on your PC
- Your own API keys
- Local models via Ollama or LM Studio
- No account, no telemetry
Version 0.3.3 · Windows 10/11 (x64)
Independent from big tech
There's no BotForge account to create and nothing to sign in to. You paste in your own API keys, or point BotForge at a model running on your own machine, and pay the providers directly at their rates (local models cost nothing extra).
- Keys and site logins are encrypted for your Windows user account (Windows DPAPI via Electron safeStorage).
- Bots, chats and memory stay on your PC under
%APPDATA%\BotForge. No telemetry. - Requests go straight to the AI providers and connectors you choose.
- Detect local models finds a running Ollama, LM Studio or other local server, so you can skip cloud keys entirely.

If one provider fails, bots can switch to another automatically. Turn on Prefer local to use your local models first.
What's in v0.3.3
BotForge ships with no bots. You start from a template or a blank bot and decide what it can do: its role, model tier, tools, memory and schedule.
44 connector presets
Connect MCP servers from a gallery of 44 vetted presets, including GitHub, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Notion, Playwright and Brave Search. One click fills in the config, finds the programs it needs and shows which keys are missing.
Approvals before risky actions
Submitting, buying, sending, deleting, signing in and shell commands outside the bot's workspace ask first by default. The Approvals screen shows the exact action before anything runs, and write-capable connector tools are gated too.
Shared memory
One live memory for all your bots. Browse, search by meaning and keywords, add, edit, pin, forget and restore entries, and see their history.
Skills
Install SKILL.md skills or plugins from a GitHub URL or a local folder, turn each on or off, and assign it to the bots that need it.
Tray and start at login
Close to the tray and keep scheduled bots running. Optionally start at login, minimized. The tray menu can pause schedules or stop every bot.
A big red STOP
A STOP bar appears whenever a bot is driving a browser or running a task. STOP all (or Ctrl+Alt+Backspace) stops every bot.
Computer use
Turn it on per bot: Edge or Chrome via Playwright with a separate profile per bot, PowerShell limited to folders you allow, and desktop apps. Or use a cloud browser or sandbox with your own key.
Usage and budgets
See tokens and estimated cost per bot, provider and model. Set a monthly budget that pauses a bot when it's reached. Local models count as $0.
Easy setup
Onboarding walks you through keys, with a Test button for each. Already have a .env file? Import it in one click. No keys yet? Try demo mode first.
Pricing
Planned pricing. Checkout isn't open yet. You always pay your AI providers directly, or nothing at all with local models.
